  The subscription department is a scam. I subscribed and paid online upfront. I received several phone calls asking me to continue my subscription. I refused. Saturday I received a bill from a collection agency saying that I owed about 25 dollars and that my account had been referred to them after the "best efforts" of the Modesto Bee had not been able to resolve the issue. I had never received any bill or notice from the Bee saying that I owed any money. The first I knew of it was a letter from a collection agency. I paid the amount they said I owe under protest. I also sent letters to the collection agency and the Bee asking for a refund. If not, I will file complaints with the appropriate authorities.

  Miserable Bee Experience
  
  Went online & subscribed to Wednesday & Sunday printed edition including digital versions. Bee gets full payment immediately. First week no paper deliveries. I called to inform Bee customer service. Gave them a second chance to get it right. Second week no paper deliveries, so called & cancelled subscription. Was told I had to wait 3 stupid weeks for refund!?!? I reported their financial impropriety to BBB. My bank ended up refunding my full payment days before the Bee offered me a reduced refund which I rejected. They then offered me full refund. Too little too late due to their incompetence. The Bee, however, is effective in delivery of papers that end up rotting in yards & in gutters along side other litter throughout our city.
